Once again, it sounds like common symptoms of a bad MAF sensor. Easy fix for <$100.

MAF yes, but could be the heat. In Toronto its about 38celcius+humidity pretty much been that way since the weekend and my car is sluggish in the heat. Prior to the heat wave it ran like a champ.

Atmosphere does make a difference but not a huge one where he couldnt get to 2200 rpm flooring it. Unless he was in the stratosphere lol, sounds like maf... takes less than an hour to do.

Did the car bog after 2000 RPMs?

Most likely it is your MAF sensor. Call Dave B to order one for a good price.

changing the MAF is not expensive and allways improves the car , that probably was ur problem.

After reading this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vapour_lock

It seems to me that vapor lock occurs more on carb engines and very rarely in electronically injected engines.

My money is still on the MAF, esp if you can't rev over 2400 rpms and the car is bogging.

I am new on here. From reading all the threads about maf issues. You clearly have the symptom of a bad maf.

Max seems slow as well

I don't have enough post to create one but I have been having problems with the performance of my Max too... I have a 01 AE and it seems like my RPM's are increasing fastly but just not accelerating quickly. Earlier today I cleaned my Injen filter and went took a drive to see if I noticed a difference. Just when I thought it was acting better, I got dusted by a Mercury Grand Marquis, is that normal? I didn't floor my max but even if I would've I don't think I would have keep up. Any input would be appreciated.

Aren't those a Crown Victoria equivalent? If so, they have pretty beefy V8's, and on a straight away, they could go pretty fast i'd bet.

haha, but on a serious note, I dunno much about the apexi dry filters, but im guessing you wash it w/ water and a solution, you did make shure the filter was completley dry right?

its definitely not vapor lock. you dont get vapor lock in a fuel injected system simply because of the pressure in the lines. MAF for sure.

Yep, I'm in Huntsville, AL and it was about 98 degrees yesterday and I let the filter sit for about an hour. But I'm not sure if it's slower or if I've just gotten used to its power...

I have been doing some research and I noticed that the tire size can make a difference on performance. The car came with 215/50/17 tires, which is smaller than stock...could this make my car slower? I also noticed that my speedometer is not accurate
