I say go with neons. They produce way more light that a little dome light bulb. Just tap into one of the wires for the step lights.

tapping the step lights seems like a good idea. do i need to put in an in line fuse?
also, if i go with neons, don't they pull more amps?

I didn't put in a fuse and I dunno how many amps they pull. They only come on when I open the doors so I'm not concerned.

oh yeah, you had to take apart the doors, right? or is there a certain color wire that we can tap into?

I'm sure the wire exists but finding it was too difficult for me. I simply took off the door panel and spliced from there.

how about when you turn on the dome light manually?

No cause that doesn't turn on the step lights (I think).

but then you can do the roundabout way and wire to the dome lights directly from the roof. sounds a bit tedious, but doable, i'm sure.

hence, my original question: which fuse does it use? that way, wiring to the footwells would be much more direct and would enable the use of a fuse tap.

the reason i want to wire it to the dome light is because when u close the door when the car is off the dome light is still on.. and when u open the car using the key FOB the dome light goes on and when u lock it the dome light goes off... so i want my neons to do the same thing... right now they just go on when i turn the car on and off when i turn it off... i do have a switch though that i can turn it off when i get tired of them... what is really ****ing me off is that my neon on the right side is turning purple (originaly it was blue)
