Humming Noise
This is my first post in the 5th gen forum so don't flame me. My mom's car is making a humming noise when driving on the highway. Automatically I figured it was the wheel bearing. When we took it to the mechanic he said that all of the wheel bearings were good and said the noise is coming from the middle of the car. I tried to pinpoint where the sound was coming from and conclude that it was coming from the middle of the car. If it's not the wheel bearings, what could it be?

i am having a similar problem, but i am also getting a shake in the front end that caused all 4 of my tires to go out of round (michelin pilot sport a/s with 7k on them) i brought my 03 max to 7 different people and they have no idea.

You probably have bent wheels. It's a lot more common than people think.

just fyi....bad bearings are VERY common on maximas....not saying that's your problem, but it's not unusual.
then again, maybe there's a reason mine go bad all the time (see sig pic)...

I have the same issue right now: humming noise from the rear from 20mph.
I have Maxima SE 2000, 115K miles, never changed bearings or struts.
Checked rear brakes, all looks good. I have Michelin tires also(60K miles on them, still look Ok, but I am going to change them next week, may be noise is going to go away).
