mag width
Too small for what? Too small to look good? Too small for improved handling? Details please.

I would look for a 7.5" or 8" wide rim. The maximum tire width is 225 with a 7" rim (some people have used 235s, but that is not recommended). The wider rims will give you more choice when it comes to tire size.
7" is same as stock width. It will work fine. Personally, though, when going aftermarket I prefer to go with a wider rim (8") and smaller offset (30-35" vice 42-45"). For looks and for performance, and for above-mentioned tire choice.
if looks is what you want, i say you just up the size vertically and get 18's. i bought some aftermarket 17x7 rims. they were light, looked okay too..... but was a waste of money cuz i ended up getting some 18x8s, which look good and got the width you want...... the stock 17's dont look bad either. I think they're one of the best looking oem rims for their time.
thanks for the info, I thought the 5th gen were 7.5"
I think i will go with something like 18" with 7.5 - 8 " width and go with ur suggestions
and in regards to my question, yes it had to do with the 5th gen specific, cuz my friend said havin 7" limits the size of the tires and because the car has so much HP, they might get worn out quickly. don't need to go all crazy with the hostility just cuz i have a low post count

And with regards to your friend's comment, the size of the tires and how much hp the car has have nothing to do with being worn out quickly, it all depends on how you drive it and what tires you have. If you are asking about handling, traction, etc, then yes, wider tires will help.
