Gas Gauge

Gas Gauge
I recently noticed that after filling the tank, the gas gauge needle hardly moves until I drive about 70 to 100 miles.
Then it goes to 3/4 tank, and seems to register proportionately. Anyone else experience this? Is it the sender or the float? I think the float is located in the filter assembly.
Its not that distracting yet because at least I know that I have gas in the tank. I had a car that the gauge did not work at all. I had to note the milege and filled after 200 miles or so. Needless to say I ran out of gas several times before I replaced the dash gauge.

Have you done any mods to your gauges? When I did mine I noticed that the template was kind of raised and it prevented the needle from flowing freely. Just make sure that the template is laying all the way down flat. You can rotate the needle with your finger just make sure the car is OFF.
The float is located on the filter assembly and it's under your back seat. You could open it up and make sure there isn't any obstruction, fill up before you do. Or you could get the needle recalibrated and see if that works.
