parking brake lever play

My parking brake lever is completly loose for about an inch before you feel that you're pulling the cable. I've tried searching but found no specific answers to this problem. Is there a way to tighten the parking brake lever so the cable engages as soon as you start applying the brake? Once applied the brake works fine BTW. Thanx in advance.

IIRC, if you lift the parking brake to the set position, there is a screw that you turn to adjust the engagement point. I'm not positive that's what it does, but I remember reading something like that on the .org a long time ago.

just like la02max says, theres a nut that is accessible, once you pull the parking brake...its 10mm in size...make sure you get a deep socket though...its kinda far down in there...tighten it a few clicks, then release the brake...and it will slowly become tighter...then keep trying until you get to your desired level

The parking brake lever now has no play! I used a 10mm socket w/long extension to get the job done. The procedure was just as described and took perhaps 2 minutes. Thank you again.
