LED Array for sidemarkers...do I go legal or illegal?

I'm at end as to wether or not I am going to be making my LED sidemarkers in amber and red (legal) or just make it a nice, clean white.

So have you been pulled over for having white sidemarkers? Is it not worth the hassle were I to do it in white?

I had polargs in my sidemarkers and within a month i hated it....both how it looks and how I was always worried about passing cops at night...it would suck to go through all that then have to change them....

And with LEDs, you shouldn't have a problem with them looking too dim

my $75 ticket for illegal use of lighting system says legal or at least legal looking. but i really dig the clean clear bright look.

somehow i got a ticket for my sidemarkers but they didnt say anything about my hid fogs or superglare hi/lo hid kit in my 00/01 housings. and the cop walked me around the car a few times telling me what was illegal. and no ticket for no plate that time.

no love for the blackouts.....which shine orange and red at night, but blend in stealthy during the day

Dan, you should try making them. If you don't like them, all it takes is some turpentine to take the paint off your OEM side markers...

Personally, I like the clear look, even on black, and I have had no problems with running Polargs w/ the clears.

Here you go Metal, you'll have to excuse the camera's quality the pics don't do it any justice. Also keep in mind that my back light has tint on it.

On dark cars, I like those smoked lights the best.

I've been running white light in the clears for 4 years now. I was even pulled over once at night for tints and the cops never said a thing about the white lights. That being said, I prefer white lights.

That tint on the dark car looks really good.. stealth to the max..

MacAlert: did the cop give you a ticket for the tints, or just pulled you over? I can't see how they could give you a ticket as they still flash the appropriate colour..

Why waste money/time trying to do something many people have already done before when someone can just point me in the right direction so i can do it properly?

I would go with that all clear/White look or atleast red in back and white in front.

I went with the all clear/white look untill I was hassled by the cops (Went 3 years w/o a problem). After that I switched to the clear/white/red. Which I almost like better than the all white. Unfortunitely the white/red got me into a bit more trouble. I was given a police impersonation ticket if you can believe it for improper use of red and BLUE lights.

Fortunitely both tickets were a breeze to have dropped with an older picture of my car (stock) at my court appearance. Fort Collins Colorado is the only place I have ever had a problem with this .

So just to recap, go with all white or white/red, or I just dont think it is worth the amount of work to do these.

Did you get the ticket in algonquin? Chicago suburb cops have nothing better to do. I've had my blue polargs in the side marker for two years now and no tickets. I've been out in MD for two months now, and so far so good, knock on wood.

I would go super bright with the oem colors, they will still stand out just as much as super white ones would.
