trim tape (pic request)

I was considering peeling off the black trim tape between the doors...I'm just not sure what it will look like...I've seen pics of a black max and a burgundy max and it looks fine But does anyone have a pic with a sterling mist max with the trim tape peeled off?

X-Vert, you beat me to it.....

I've seen a couple pics of lighter colors with the tape removed, but I don't remember where. I didn't think it looked that good because of the black that still remains around the windows. Just my $.02

Well I'll be damned... I didn't know you could do that. Is it easy to peel off? Does it leave any kind of residue?

Easier to do if you heat it up with a heat gun, but if it's left outside in the sun in this weather, it'll have the same effect. Just score and peel. I removed the trim around it first though, but it's not necessary.

I'm interested in doing this, but I have a Glacier Pearl 02 and couldn't figure out if I would like it. Here is a quick Photochop for any of the other "whities" out there that are interested. I'd like to here some feedback from anyone.

This is not my car. I borrowed the picture from the pictures thread. This fine Maxima belongs to LA02MAX.

Nice photochop. Looks best on dark cars, I guess.

It's not quite sterling mist but close. I used carbon fiber vynal on the outside after peeling off the center.

lol um that's kinda interesting you did that, because I'm the owner of the car, and now I have the tape removed...haha

It looks alright, but if i could have gone back, I wouldn't have done it...only one person has noticed it, however.

To make it look pillar-less, I guess. Good idea, but the execution was poor IMO. It should have been glossy, rather than matte. Who's ever seen matte glass?

Ha, that's pretty funny. I can't make up my mind if I like it better or not. I do think that I like it a little more actually seeing it on your car rather than my photochop. Glacier Pearl FTW!!!

I did it to my car and i dont like it so i got some CF B-pillars to cover it up.

I really dont like how it looks on light cars w/ tint, looks the best on dark cars w/ tint.

I added a carbon fiber vynal because the back pillar couldn't be done as the front two.

I've had it on there for almost two years now and haven't had a problem yet. I wax it out too though when I wax the car so that might have something to do with it.

I don't have vynal on the pillars itself it's on the black part that separates the window from the pillar. I also put it on the pillar on the back door.

no, it's real. That's why i was surprised when someone acutally photoshopped it on my car, because I actually did do this mod! lol...Here's some more pics...it looks the same color in real life, so maybe it was just the angle or the camera or something.

It could also be the 'pearl effect' because as light hits it from different angles it looks different.

hmm interesting...i think i'll leave mine black since i'm getting those black se tail lights so i'll have more black going on haha i think it only flow better with darker color cars. but i wonder why they put the black tape over it in the first place =/

If you do this you won't have any way to close the door without getting finger prints all over it. I guess it's more of a dark color issue.

Put some masking tape over it and stand way back. The color is close enough that you'll get an idea of how it looks and flows.

The black tape is flat and doesn't show fingerprints. Of course you're not going to see fingerprints on sterling mist. It's too light. I was really refering to dark colors. That was more of a joke anyway.
