Negative side effects from OSCAI?

As far as know, there are none except for maybe a slight whistling or sucking sound from the intake at certain rpm's. It's really not very noticeable unless you listen for it.

Y2KEVSE, can you verify this?

ToYlet902: lots of people here and for many other makes of automobiles have used K&N filters without any problems. If you keep the filter clean and well-maintained, you should hopefully have no problems. I think what you mentioned was happening because people were installing the filter when it had too much oil on it after re-oiling it. The excess oil could build up in the TB or on the MAF (mass air flow) sensor and damage it. If you let the excess oil drip off the filter after a re-oiling, things should be ok.
radpp16: with a CAI you have to be careful not to drive in flooded areas or areas with standing water. But, driving in rain should be OK. I don't think anyone here has ever had a problem with water ingestion because of a CAI. With the OSCAI you can adjust the tubing to make sure it is out of the way of water if you plan on driving in such situations. I have driven with the OSCAI in heavy rain before and have not had any problems. No water in the air box or water marks on the filter ever.
VeggieH8R: The underhood style intakes such as the Stillen Hi-flow are at a disadvantage when it is hot. The underhood of your car gets pretty hot and these intakes are forced to suck in hot air. In addition, many have found that the engine pings with these intakes. The OSCAI generally has provided better performance than these intakes. I did not have an underhood intake before the OSCAI, so perhaps someone that has had experience with both can better distinguish between the two

I love that sucking sound...
well...u might notice it gets dirty fast if u decided to cut ur splash guard open. I love my OSCAI though.
