Strange Issue

I have a strange problem but I'm not even sure if it's actually a problem or not. I've searched through many threads to see if I could find an answer but had no luck.

I have an '03 GLE automatic with 172k miles. When I'm driving in top gear at speeds above 45mph the car seems to "jerk" or "buck" a little if I let off the gas abrubtly. It also does it if I immediately get back on the gas. It only does it while in OverDrive, not any other gear that I can tell. I thought that it could be a motor mount but thought that a motor mount would cause a jerk in any gear but I could be wrong.

I don't really know how else to describe this issue. This does not seem normal to me b/c I've never had any other car do this. It's not like a "throw you back in your seat" kind of jerk but it's definitely noticable and annoying.

If you can offer any insight I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

During the condition described above taking place, is this a series of oscillations or a singular instance?

My car does this to, but has considerably less miles than yours. I think its the torque converter.

perhaps, but that would effect more than just one gear
well, have u been changing ur tranny fluid?
maybe it's your final drive clutch pack

or i think there might be some sort of valve thats worn or a little stuck, causing that.
not really sure cuz i know practically nothing about trannys, and even less about autos

I have this also but I have a 97 and it's a 5spd.

It feels like a spuddering or studder.

I was reading a thread a long time ago about it, someone said something about the flywheel being the problem.

My 98 did the same thing now that I think about it. But mine was auto. I know someone who has a 97 5spd and theres does it....something like 140k all original ( as far tranny goes).

It is just a singular instance, no oscillations. The tranny fluid looks good but I'm going to get it changed anyway. I'm still debating on whether to have it flushed out completely or just have the pan dropped. I wondered if it was the torque converter too. The problem doesn't affect the drivability of the car too bad so hopefully it's nothing major. I don't know much about transmissions though so who knows.
