Service Engine Question

This is not another stupid Service Engine Light question. My light has been turnning on for about 2 weeks then shuts off for a month or 2 and coems back. This probably happened like 3 times in the last 6 months. When i checked it using my friend's scanner, he told me that it was the 02 sensor. I first wanted to know which one is the bank 1 sensor 2 and should i even replace the 02 sensor or just forget about it. It does not seem like its affecting my car in any way.

Thanx for any help. Sorry for being a newbie.

I cleaned my engine bay today and when i got ready to start the car the service engine light came on. I figured if i disconnected the battery it would reset itself. Is this true and will my gas mileage go down because if this?

It would be wise to check why the SES light came on before resetting it. That said, instructions for clearing the code(s) are can be found here:

I have personally experienced that. The code would come on after being cleared if i didnt let my car warm up. Thats how it started. Basically bank 1 sensor 2 monitors catalitic effeciency. It will not effect you much performance wise but will bite you in the long run. What happenedd to me was the precats were bad, that was just the warning. Eventually the cat fully clogged and forced the exhaust back into my motor and messed up my valve seals and my car would smoke a little. Just a word to the wise...
