installing home made black carpet

I bought black carpet in the roll at autozone. I'm laying it over the stock carpet. I'm also using headliner glue in an automotive sprayer.

Its coming along every well. I started off using the spray glue in the can and that is $12 a can and it only covered the front passanger side. So I got a gallon of the 3m headliner glue

Yeah, the glue aint cheap that's a fact. Just be careful with the glur and that you don't use it too heavily...otherwise it'll bleed through.

GOOD LUCK!

I'm laying it over the stock carpet.
Just curious, but why are you laying the new carpet over the old carpet?

There are no aftermarket black carpets for the Maxima, so a new black one needs to be made peicemeal over the OEM one using AM black carpet...

I see. From his post, it sounded like he was glueing it in the car to the OEM carpet.

Oh, so you are doing that. Why would you not remove the old carpet?

The carpet used for the overlay does not have the rubberized undercoating which is needed to maintain the integrity of the OEM lines.

exactly and by leaving the stock carpet in there, the stock carpet works as a thick padding for the new black carpet

Great job, just put an update in here after you've moved around on it for a little while.

Metal... how are your door panels holding up??? I have a problem of resting my arm on mine so I worry that I will work it loose.

Looks good. Personal opinion though, I would have picked a color that went better with the interior.

6 yards of carpet I bought 3 rolls at autozone. Its called black automotive carpet. It's 36 inches x 72 inches

And I used contact cement in a tin can that I bought at walmart. I bought 4 qts of it (1 gallon) and I used 3/4 gallon of glue.

I used a automotive paint spray glue to apply the glue.

51 dollars and 6 hours later..............

Do you need a sprayer to put the contact cement on? I was thinking of using contact cement to put my carpet on too. and 3M 90 ahesive spray to do my headliner etc.

When you need to change your clothes do you just throw new clothes over your old clothes?

If the carpets needed to be installed in pieces, you could have used a seam sealer and made the cuts in places not seen. Like under the front seats and beneath the center console.

I used a carpet store remnant in my 91 maxima. It came out awesome. One day i'll try using an oriental rug.

I'm just going to tile over the entire floor of mine in gold stolen from homeless people's tooth fillings whom I will beat to death with my Dr.Fuel Max in a mace-like fashion, thereby satiating my medieval bloodthirst and greed for Aztec treasure all at once, YARRR!!!

Dude, it looks just fine. A seam sealer would have made patches equally as apparent.
