I had the same problem, my left high beam didn't light up, I changed my bulb but it still didn't work, so I ignored the problem since I rarely use highs.... But then after while my right low beam was out.
I took it to dealer, result diagnostic 1h + daytime running light switch 259$ + 1h labor. This seems to be a common problem for us canadians cause 5.0 gen Maxs south of the border don't have daytime running lights.

Thx Moreno, I think you are right, the DRL is a pain...

I can only hope my low beam will stay for a while, my high beam has been out for like months, have my fingers crossed.

Yikes, 1 hr + $295 + 1 hr labor eh, that is a ripeoff !

For $295 plus labor I would simply ignore it unless other lights are affected in the future. Like you said you don't use the high beams that often. Other than the fuses, bulb and wiring I can't think of any other recommendations, but based on what Moreno said it could be possible you might have the same problem like he did.

Yeah I know it's a ripeoff... If it comes to the point that you have to replace it, I suggest to do it yourself. The DRL Unit control looks like an 8 track and is located behind the left headlight betwen the coolant and the windshiled washer tank.

I had the same prob with my passenger side high beam not working. It's been like this for over a year. i tried everything i could think of to fix it and had no luck. My car does not have Day Time Driving lights, so i was wondering if my car also has the DRL unit installed that could be causing this.
