clutch going out?
clutch going out?
I just did a search and from what I can tell my clutch is done, but wanted to confirm.
Driving home from work today I suddenly realized that I could push the clutch in a lot more before it would have any pressure. It would also engage almost immediately after it came off the floor, which is not norma.
A few minutes later, it got a lot harder to get in gear. By the time I got in my neighborhood it almost wouldn't go into gear at all. I had to coast most of the way down my street and then just barely got it in gear to pull in the garage.
I checked and its got plenty of fluid.
Seemed very sudden, although its been harder to get in gear for a while now.
Its got 130K on it, but mainly highway as I drive for work ALL the time.
I planned on calling my mechanic tomorrow. Is it time for a new clutch? What should I expect to pay?

Doesn't sound like the clutch. When a clutch goes out you have slipping but it still disengages fine and shifting should still be smooth. A worn clutch becomes more and more disengaged with all the action at the top of the pedal travel.
It sounds like you have a problem in the hydrolic system. Probably the master or slave going out. From what you wrote about the clutch pedal and the difficult shifting my money is on that and not the clutch being worn out.
