I just looked at caper's pic on his repaint post. Mine doesnt look that bad, but this is where my clear is peeling off. (waiting 5 weeks now for the nissan inspector, I guess he's a VERY busy guy).

Anyone else notice the paint having problems at the bottom of the rear door (close to the wheel arch)? I'm guessing that since there is 3m tape there from the factory, that the air must be REALLY SERIOUSLY distubed about this area. It looks like that area on Caper's car was sandblasted. On my car, you can rub off the clear with your finger (both sides).

And the part that really ****es me off is that I asked if they could just go ahead and throw some clear on to protect the area while I wait for the inspector. They said no. So now I'll need the whole area painted and blended. that is so shortsighted. Of course, I've yet to see Nissan do ANYTHING proactive for us. They deserve whatever this costs them. It all could easily be avoided.

I noticed the 3M tape at the bottom of the rear wheel arches, is that normal ? Are we supposed to leave the tape on or remove it ?

that 3M tape is normal. it's on other cars too.

their locations are always different, but im sure theirs a purpose for them.

i always thought it was to protect the door from peoples shoes, etc. i dunno

Same here

I've definitely got a problem there too, but only on the passenger side. The Max has been repainted twice in that area.

There must be something out there that we can put on the paint to keep this area from chipping. The Nissan Rep told me to put a clear 3M product on it but I heard this stuff turns yellow sometimes. I don't want to take the chance. If anyone finds a solution let me know. Also if you want results from Nissan wait and see the rep in person. My nissan dealer sent pics of two other cars with the same problem and they wouldn't help, but when they seen my car first hand they offered to repaint it with out an arguement.
