Vias Fix

I was reading up on the VIAS fix the question i had was that would you be able to tell the vias needs to be fixed when u accelerate or is it something very subtle that you cant really tell until you fix it. Because recently i get absolutely no pick up after 4rpms and wasnt sure if that was a MAF issue or a VIAS issue. My dad has the same 00 maxima as me and his ALOT faster with pick up so something has to be wrong with my car.
thanks
