are you suppossed to check ATF when hot or cold?

I just removed my maxxtuning VB and replaced with a stock unit, and flushed tranny with new ATF. However, I am a little unclear as to whether to check the fluid on the dipstick when the the car is hot or cold? Which is it?

Also, I filled the AT through the dipstick tube...was this the correct place to fill it from?

Thanks

Check it while it's hot with the car running. Filling it through the filler tube is the right procedure.

Also, make sure you're parked on a level surface for a more accurate reading.

doesnt matter if your car is hot or not. there are 2 sides of your dipstick 1 for cold level min/max and one for hot min/max. check the fluid with the car running. dipstick hole is where its filled from
