Need exhaust help

Hi,

We are currently trying to build up a 2000 SE (5spd). I was advised that my cAt is shot. I would like to get a highflow cat and a greddy cat back exhaust. Can you please give me some suggestions and locations on where to get these items cheap?!

Thanks in advance!!!

ebay...get the catback for 230 shipped. looks like the greddy evo 2. cat you can order from anywhere. usually the same price. why not just get a resonator pipe inplace of the cat?

1. don't buy ebay crap exahusts...they are junk and sound like garbage
2. don't get a "resonator pipe" (aka "test pipe") to replace the cat. They will make your car run like crap unless you're FI or N2....
3. Out factory cats have good flow. You will gain NO power with a "high flow" cat. It's a gimmick.
4. who advised you that your cat is shot? also, how many miles does the car have?

And you believe him? Have him show you, and if so you should have a 0707 MIL code... IIRC.

bend over again, your mechanic wants to rape you some more. I fail to see how a bad cat is causing the car to shut off unless it's totally clogged (which is very unlikely). your mechanic is a moron, and tell him I said so, please.

Overall I like my Greddy and the way it sounds and got it at a good price in the GD section.

The sounds is deep and not exaggeratedly loud. I really thought it would sound like the hondas with the big exhaust at first. But after a several passed beside me, it was nothing like it. After I got my y-pipe installed it sounded louder and meaner.

I don't know if got any hp, if I did its probably minimal.

There is one things, you do hear a drone between 1.5-2k rpms but it did not really bother me.

Another things was when it was installed, it looked out of place without a rear lip kit. Because the Greddy was a bit big. But after I installed the lip kit it looked great.

One problem I ran into was that with the lip kit, the muffler would rattle. So I took it to a muffler shop. The guys did a pretty good job, they just bent the hangers a bit and no more rattle. They did not even charge, but I gave them something anyways.
