Installed SAFC II and dynoed it

K , i installed the safc 2 today and had it dyno tunned, im pritty happy with the results, my only mod is a pop charger and now the afc.

Base run is with pop charger HP:207.64 and TQ:209.14
afc and after tunning HP: 217.32 and TQ: 225.46

Car feels the same except 1st gear tires used to just break loose when i pinned it off a roll with my pilots, now it spins alot more and i get some crazy wheel hop...

My friend also dynoed his 05 g35 sedan 6mt with a intake , got 251 hp and 217tq.

The dyno cureves looked almost identical but around 5k my hp starts to drop and his keeps climing.....

After i raced the g35 off a 1st gear roll and i had him up to the top of second gear, then he pulled and by 120 ish i was at his back bumper, then we went off a second gear roll and same thing, he just slowly pulled away ...

This is another indication that AFC + intake is FTW.....An intake is not complete w/o A/F tuning, what did you shoot for (AF ratio)??

the guy told me what he changed it to but i fogot, i think 13 somthing or 14 something???

I dunno, my knowledge about tunning and a/f rations is very low.... I can just take stuff apart and pout it back togther

He said he couldnt realy squeeze more out cause im stock as far as exhasut and etc...

i would say those are strong numbers for the mods. im looking forward the the comparison dyno with the g35 numbers. i have seen some that inclined me to believe that both hp and torque were overated but from what your friend put down, it seems pretty inline with infiniti's numbers.

not knowing much about tuning and playing with a/f's can be VERY dangerous. a/f of 13 and 14 - where? if at high throttle, u're running close to stoich. How much fuel did he pull? At what % will the ECU pull timing? I recommend u ask for a dyno with a/f's on it. I'm still learning about tuning my supra turbo, but we don't tune past 11.5 generally speaking, otherwise KABOOM could be in the veyr near future. Maybe with n/a's u can go closer to stoich?

ya i dunno what im doin, the place i went to is know for doing awsome tunning and building some sick cars, they know their stuff.

The guy told me he couldnt tune my car much cause its bascily stock.

I told him to squeeze alittle more out of it and keep it safe.

ive got mine tuned to around 13.0-13.5. during the street tune, there was several times where it was 14 flat with no detonation but it was pulled back just for caution sakes. when boost comes into play, the a/f is most always richened.

if this works so great on the 3.5 L maximas... how about the 3.0s with some mods? Will i gain high numbers like that?

mod for mod, the 3.5L will always be higher...but if you slap on I/H/E and S-AFCII to a vq30dek, there could be a possibility u still fall short from maxspeed96ct #'s...

depends on your current a/f. mine was perfect back when i had my cattman y pipe. almost 13 across the range that was dynoed. with headers on, it was running rich. i gained around 8-10whp through the range and about the same for torque with my vafc2 tuned to 13-13.5

Pulls/adds MAF V... in turn altering ECU feedback, pulling or adding fuel.

"Street tune" does that mean u tuned it on the street with a WB? Or did you tune it at the dyno for the street? If 13's are considered safe #'s on N/A's sounds like you have a nice setup. Any dyno #'? What are your mods?

street tuning = means you are on the street, tuning your car...aka, real world conditions...hood is closed, more load on the engine, aerodynamic resistance, sometimes hotter weather (less o2)

dyno tuning = means you are tuning on the dyno....this can be favorable to some...it's safer than street tuning...becuz you won't get caught by the police.....also your hood is open, and the facility is usually cooler than outside temps...therefore more o2 within the area...a huge fan is blowing cold air (most dyno shops carry a huge fan)...can't think of anything else

so wait...you never mentioned a wideband to show if you're actually making correct adjustments to the air/fuel ratio.

oh yeah...well i don't think i need to mention using a wb02, do I? i mean, what else would you use to read air fuel ratio?

steven explained the street tuning above. i have a couple of dynos floating around the org but the most recent i was having issues with my fuel pump (it would not hold pressure over 6krpms). i put down around 197hp but i cannot recall the torque off my head. my low and midrange torque is pretty low due to the powervalve in my manifold being taken out. that provides for the best hp and moving my peak torque into higher rpms. my power mods are intake, headers, b pipe, vafc2 for tuning and other things that help/might help are an udp, 15lbs wheels, some weight reduction and fpr with the pressure bumped up and taken back with the vafc2 for improved timing. ive got the fuel pump replaced and put on a 350z lower temp thermostat so im ready to dyno again. i would guess im over 200whp as it stands but only the humblemaker knows for sure.

Yeah more than likely you'll get a gain from tuning with the SAFC. Installing it yourself would be my recommendation, it's only a few wires and it'll help you understand what you're doing and how it works. But if you must pay, probably an hour worth of labor (average $65-80/hr) unless you want some trick mounting or other custom stuff.

It's not a toy by any means....dyno with a/f readings or wideband o2 sensor should be mandatory. I've known a few people who got too greedy and cracked pistons from detonation...(not maxima's though)

I thought I already told you this?

It depends on your current AFR.

That was alomost the point, since 72% of the people on here have no clue what these are, nor how to use them.

BTW, when are you dynoing again

I raced a buddy of mine's g35 sedan and I pulled him. He jumped on me out of the hole and then I just walked past him and had about a car length at 130mph and he was stock and all I had was an intake.... But this g35 was an auto and I am a 6 speed, maybe that had something to do with it?

There is a forum for crap like this, please use it:

http://forums.maxima.org/forumdisplay.php?f=78

I also don't see how this has anything to do with the current discussion.
