No...

You don't have to do anything special to run the 55 shot, but to go to either the 65 or 75 you will need for fuel. If you get the ZEX you will love it. Just don't get the ZEX plugs, they work great with the nitrous but not so good when just on motor. The car almost feels like it is bogging down. Also with the ZEX kit make sure that you have someone that knows what is going on to install. You are going to have to adjust the TPS to up voltage to allow the kit to work or you can put a microswitch on. I went with adjusting the TPS but if you have an auto be ready for a slight change in shifts. It doesn't bother me but might some people. If you get it and have any questions about the install or anything just let me know.

Peace
Blake

I've READ a lot of articles and discussed in length with a few engineering buds of mine about the benefits of adding a fuel pressure regulator before you add NOS/turbo/SC. It can supposedly get you a little more hp, but the best reason is that it will help keep a constant pressure/flow of fuel to help protect you from "possible" engine damage. Until you know for sure how much NOS you can run by monitoring the A/F ratio, I wouldn't risk "bottle feeding" the Max without one.

If I were you, I'd get an EGO monitor(rich/lean indicator) and if you have an auto you should do a few basic upgrades like running Redline ATF with an oil cooler.

Keep us posted! Do you plan on doing a before/after dyno to see how much hp/tq you gain? I've seen an ~25hp/16lb-ft(I think) tq gain to the wheels on a slightly modded Max in one of my Import Tuner/Sport Compact mags. It would be interesting to see how much a 55+shot actually puts to the wheels on a stock Max, then with an intake/exhaust/etc...

well like next week im placing order for intake/y-pipe and possibly the underdrive pulley....and then the following week im most likely getting ZEX....is that computer run?? cuz i heard it allows only enough nos that the engine can handle....which is good....but does that mean less power??
and then some friends are telling me not to cuz it really kills ure engine quick....and some say that it hurts ure engine if u dont know wut ure doing and how to use it, so im confused.

ZEX...

yes the kit is computer run. It reads fuel pressure, nitrous pressure and volts from TPS. It will only allow nitrous to flow if all of these things are ok. Nitrous is only as safe as you want it to be, with that statement I mean if you just throw a kit on a car and don't double check everything, and make sure that you are actually within your limits, yes you will go BOOM! But the 5th gen max can handle it well. I have had no problems that were related to the nitrous. (Knock on wood)!!! I am running an air/fuel ratio gauge and all is good with the 55shot. I haven't tried a larger shot yet. After the vb mod gets done I will be uping the nitrous. If you have any doubts call ZEX they are very helpful and will tell you what your car can handle and what you need to be able to use one of the larger jets.
