i am planning to buy some 18' g35 coupe rims. however, i am concern about fitment. as u guys may know i have an 2002 infiniti i35. will these rims fit my car fine or not. my car is like an 2002-2003 nissan maxima. does anyone have these g35 coupe rims on their maxima?

Did you try searching for this or maybe take a look at the PICTURE THREAD ???

 

They WILL RUB with OEM G35Coupe tires. But if you're buying them without rubber, then just select the proper tires (I believe 225/45/18) and you'll be fine. 225/45 will also stay truest to your mileage readings with the least amount of error (assuming your I35 currently has 17" rims on it). 235/40/17 will also work well.

Good point. It'll rub bad when dropped, but it'll rub occasionally if he isn't, too. We had some folks in NYCMaximas without a drop and G35 rims who rubbed only in the rear.

But it does sound like he isn't getting it with OEM tires or anything, so it's no biggie.

 

^ I can vouch for this... 245/45/18 rubbed a lot without anyone else in the car, and just about over every dip with a person in the back.. But then again, there are people with this tire size who are dropped and never rub. I've got 225/45/18 all around and may have rubben twice in the past month over some hardcore bumps.

235/40/18 is the correct size for the 18x8 G wheels. Period.

 

by the way, since I keep seeing mistake in alot wheel-related threads:


18' = 18 feet

18" = 18 inches

 

It depends, actually...if he's getting eBay G35 wheels -- those are 18x7 (or 7.5, I forget) so 225 will work slightly better. But if he's getting OEM ones, they're obviously wider, and will require a wider tire.

 

If they're not OEM, they're not "G35 wheels"...they're "replica G35 wheels"

 

However if he's got an I35 with the OEM 17's, his current tire size is 225/50/17, so the good-sized 18" tires are 225/45/18 (0.4% slow) or maybe 235/45/18 (1.8% slow) or 235/40/18 (1.8% fast).

My OEM 17's are 225/50/17 also...

OEM rims are 7" wide. The G 18's are 8" wide. Putting 225-width tires on 8" rims is lame, IMO.

235/45/18 could have rubbing problems, depending on if he drops the car, and what tires he uses (not all 235/45/18 are the same depending on brand)

235/40/18 is the safest/most correct size to use on these rims.

 

Agreed. It has the least chance of rubbing, isn't a hard-to-find size, and is recommended by Tirerack.

i'm using 245/40/17 with very little rubbing at all. I need to raise the rear up a little bit to fix the rubbing.... settling + stereo system ftl. here's a picture of them (sorry...not g35 rims..but they are 18x8)

 

what offset are you running, though?

 

Irish.. are you saying 235/40 is the proper size for 18x8"s because of the 8" width or for odometer calibration reasons? 245/40 may be a tad wide for your tastes on an 8" wheel but it's closer to the stock overal diameter..

 

I'm saying 235/40 is the proper size on 18x8's with a 30mm offset, unless you like rubbing the rear fender. 245/40 I "might" try next, but I will roll the rear fenders first.

a little bit of rub only on deep bumps, it's not too bad. I would suggest rolling the 2 rear fenders, that'll fix the problem.

try again - the 8's means 8 "apostrophe" s.....the suggestion was that it was plural, not that it was inches. Yeah, i could have put the s up against the 8 for more correct grammar....plural vice possessive.

I did NOT mean to say 18x8"s though....I meant to say 18x8s...

 

by the way....the rear rubbing, if slight, can be gotten rid of by shaving the little inside lip where the top of the bumper joins the wheelwell. Feel inside the lip of the wheel well and you'll feel it there. Just dremel it down a bit. No need to roll fenders necessarily.
