OEM H.I.D. Bulb has Officially Burned Out!

Hi Peeps,
I have an '01 Maxima that I did an '02 HID transplant to. Well, 129,000 mile later and the Drivers Side bulb has gone out. Anybody else have this happen to them? I called the dealer and they want $230 just for the bulb!! No housing, nothing just the bulb. Any thoughts on any of this? Has anyone elses gone out. The dealer has said they sell aftermarket HID replacement bulbs.

Thanks

Dr. Omed.

There are a lot of people on hidplanet's forums which will sell you OEM replacement bulbs for a more reasonable price.

You will want a 4300K D2R bulb. (incase you were in question of bulb type.)

Oops, I probably should have warned him of that too. Although I figured it was common sense with HIDs. Yes, your new bulb will be much brighter then your original bulb. So, you should replace both if you are in the financial situation to do so.

THANKS!
All the suggestions have been a great help. I like the classified pair for $50 bucks. Like someone above suggested, replacing both (even though one is still good) is a good idea. Then I'll have one to hawk to someone else if they want it.

Thanks again for all the helpful and quick replies.

Hi,
I'm doing research and find a lot of 6000K 8000K 10000K and even 12000K kelvin ratings on the bulbs. I have an '07 e350 benz with 6000K hid's and they look sweet!! Know if we can put 6000Kelvins in the HID unit or we must keep it at a lowly 4300K?

Thanks eveybody.

Hey bro, who said I'm broke? The above reply states that I have an 07 Benz too! I don't get it. Anyway, I just bought a pair from ebay for a hundred bucks a pair, I hope that makes you happy bro.

Late.

You can put any colour temp bulb in there. However the higher you go in bulb temp, the less light output you're going to get.

Stay away from anything over 4500K. 6500K - 12000K lights are for people who never drive in the dark and want that ugly ricer look. Stick with OEM quality and light output. 4300K FTW.
