Owned the car for a month and half and look what I have done already...

Im the type of guy who likes to get the modding done in a timely manner so I can just enjoy the car. Some people like to do one mod a month. Everyone is different. In this case, after a month and a half, I have done quite alot to the 5.5 6 m/t. Heres a list:

8000k fogs + 8000k Headlights = $310
Stillen rear + front = $640
Clear corners (all 4) = $50
Hyperwhites (sidemarkers + interior doors and healdiner) = $70
H&R springs + Tokico struts = 540 + 180 (install) = $720
Cattman Rear section + JTW Popcharger = $513

...Just wanted to clarify all that I have done with prices (in case anyone is curious)...$2303. By far the most costly thing that has been done was lowering the car. If you add the money for amsoil oil change and amsoil gear fluid flush, thats another $100 right there but its not really a mod.

Someone shoot me if I get tempted to sell this car after a year...I will deserve it.

Do you have night vision goggles you drive with? I had 8000K bulbs back when I thought looking like a ricer was cool, and I couldn't see a damn thing. 4300K FTW.

HID Fogs? Do you live in an area that gets much fog? Trying to drive with HID in the fog is like driving with your brights on. You blind yourself silly. Get some 3200K bulbs and Lexus Yellow capsuls.

Sorry, couldn't help but impose my views on superior lighting output onto you.

whats the point of wasting that much money in to useless things. thats not an investment. at the end you wont get what you paid for.

Everyone knows you don't get what you paid for mods back when you sell the car. Most people do it for their own enjoyment.

I had 8,000 dollars worth of audio equipment in my other Maxima... not to add resale to the car, but because I love music.

yep nightvision googles in the glovebox ...Few people told me that you can't see too well with 8000k but I took the chance. So far so good. Maybe down the road I will put 6000k's

if i had that 8000$ i would spend that on my loveable wife and kids, buy my wife such things, take her out to vacation etc. she would be a proud lady to have a husband like me. lol i know its to each of his own but spending $8000 on non-living thing is just a crazyness (no offense) but think for a minute if unfortunately the car's tranny goes bad or something costly pops up and you need $2000 to rebuild or replace the tranny would you have that much money on the side after spending 8k in audio system?

well maybe he doesn't have a wife and/or kids. As it states.. his age is only 20 and wants to enjoy his life as a young adult. It's a hobby, and he's trying enjoy his car.

oh thats nice to hear. you might have a great fulltime job with no bills.
BTW $2300 is not a huge amount i am concerned about those who spend $8000 on cars. i mean with 8000$ you can get another maxima.

He's right. I was 18 back then. I didn't (still don't) have a wife. Yes, I could have afforded to pay for anything that may have popped up. I work hard and I like to play hard (if you will).

I realize that I am lucky. I paid for my new car in cash. But like I said, I work hard and want to enjoy the time I have when I'm not working or in school. However, don't get my wrong, I pay for everything. Mommy and Daddy don't buy me much.

I would like to think that I have "grown" out of that modding stage. My new Maxima will stay stock. I don't have the same job I used to, and school is consuming more and more of my time and money.

In the end, it comes down to happiness. If it makes me happy to have that kind of stereo, then great for me. If it makes him happy having his mods then that is great for him. If OC Guy would be happy spending his money on his wife and kids all the better. If I had them, I would certinaly love spending money on them.

Look what you've started SLVRMAXX

And, I had plenty of bills. Rent, phone, electrice, cable (internet), petrol (both home and automotive).

I most certainly could have bought another Maxima, or Inifiniti or anything else. I nearly bought the new M45 Sport when it came out... had it been available with a manual tranny, I would have. Plus, I figured if I stayed below my means (buying a 5.5Gen 6-Speed TE) I wouldn't have to be a slave to my job and could leave (like I did) when I wanted.

I think you're missing the point of modding if you think it is for anything other then your own personal enjoyment.

I know man...look what I started. Im 20 and I am a fulltime student. I had a parttime job last year and I quit so I can focus on school and studying for the LSATs. I did not just quit randomly. I knew I wanted a maxima and I knew how much I wanted to spend on modding. When I had enough money, I quit. I dont think alot of kids my age would have put that kind of consideration into it like I did. I knew I had to be smart and still have money in the back. I still do despite the $2300 I spend in a month and a half. It makes me happy doing so. My older brother gives me props because I knew how much I wanted to spend buying the car, how much I wanted to spend modding the car and how much I wanted to have left over.

I dont think theres anything wrong with spending $8k on a system. I personally am happy with my bose stockies but to each their own.

Modding is for personal enjoyment...I dont care how much I lose when I sell the car. I plan on keeping it for a very long time

OC Guy - I think you are being ridiculous. Why do you visit maxima.org? I don't visit to discuss - my finances or what I should be spending my $$ on. Every mod is a waste of money if you are looking for a return on investment. Also $8k is a lot of $$ to me, but it is all relative. I visit the org to check out new and hot mods, see what other maxima drivers are doing and experiencing. The more outrageousness the better, I want to see the $8k system, I want to hear the $8k system.

This is America where overabundance and gluttony is revered. Why else would H2's and Escalades be popular among soccer moms. Maybe you want to the US to be a socialist state - everyone will be issued the Chevy Aveo, no mods, would that make you happy?

I thought it was a mexico. thanks for pointing that out since you said this is America i would say "what happened to freedom of speech"? you visit here to view the hot mods? so do I!!! on the other hand no one should mind a piece of free advice. to you $8k system is not a big deal but ask those who cant even afford to buy a single mod for thier car. there are many diffrent people here on ORG. I am one of them. some do appreciate expensive mods and some see it as "waste of money" so why dont you quit interfering and stop creating a scene. Afterall i didnt say anything rediculous that you had to call me a rediculous guy!

Thought I'd get in a quick post before this thread gets locked up!

Different life stages mean different priorities for different people. If I knew at 19 what I know now at 44, I wouldn't have bought that ridiculous stereo nor would I have bought that one-year-old 1980 Accord I installed it in. Relative to what I know now, I was an ignorant dumbass and still (relatively) suffer from the stupid financial decisions made at the time, but I wasn't going to listen to any old farts' advice back then.

Then again, the memories with that car and its stereo are priceless. Besides, I could have bought a 1991 Hona Civic Si for $3000 instead of the Maxima I just bought for $13,500, and pocketed the difference. On the other hand, I could have gone into serious debt and bought that new WRX or even that 550i that I wanted...

Good luck on the LSAT's. I was there a year ago, and definitely give your self time to study. I'm a first year law student right now - and its a lot of work. (And I did engineering during my undergrad). Believe me, have fun while you can, because once you start law school, you won't have much time to yourself.

nicely done for the most part, though I am not a fan of 8000k headlights AT ALL.

Now, get to work on some more extensive suspension mods

+1 on the law school stuff. Where do you go? I just started at Nova law in South Florida. My focus is now on court cases and memo's rather than car audio and the maxima.

at the end of the day, you waste so much money in your lifetime that it's unbelievable. if you're gonna waste money, why not enjoy it?

you never spend more money into a hobby than you can afford to waste.

consider it $8000 spent on himself and pleasing himself. if you have to spend your whole life spending your money but never being happy with it, your life sucks.

oh, and if you spend $8000 w/out having rainy day money and all your bills paid, you're a moron.

hehe

Im enjoying the car...I live for now, not for tomorrow. I just had a really great experience with Stillen. I ordered the stillen kit last week but they have not even shipped it out. They will ship it out tomorrow. I made a comment when I ordered that I NEED it by next thursday to get it painted and installed before the maxima meet on saturday.

So the representative apologized for the delay and the company is taking it upon itself to ship it to me via 3 day air. Its a great company and has great people working for it.

As for the car, 8000k may have been a drastic move but I still like it. I can always switch to 6000k later on.

To the guys who have posted about Law School...I find myself in a tough dilemma. 18 Credits and a LSAT coming up in december. I figured if I dont do well on the test then I will just finish undergrad and graduate in May 07. I will study that whole summer then take the test again in oct. Who cares if I start law school late? I will be 22 when I start godwilling. Not that bad...
