I know that if you ask technosquare can make your check in light into a shift light.
Other then that check out autometer guages... they offer the best most accurate shift lights that i know of.

i never understood why people need a shift light...if you know your car, you can hear exactly when to shift (right as you kiss redline)

he asked what a GOOD time to shift was, not what the maximum rpms that he could shift at was....

It's a good idea to shift before redline.

well I guess I should have explained my situation a little more...

I just bought my car about a month ago and It's my first manual...From what I understand - idealy you want to keep your engine in it's "optimum power band" while keeping fuel consumption to a reasonable level...

I guess there isn't really one answer to the question, but I guess I just want to get an idea of what the "average" shifting point is...

I hope that makes sense!

1st to 2nd is usually a little higher than the rest to get a smoother shift.
the rest should be around 3k rpm for best gas milage. just dont sit there and wait between shifts. my buddy does that and his rpms drop, then he shifts into next gear. you get unnessessary clutch wear that way, plus the car jerks when the clutch engages. not smooth driving at all.

i don't have any aftermarket exhaust...and i would say the max engine is quite quiet...with windows down, it's really hard to tell without looking....

i have one, and the reason being is because i have nitrous, and i just wanted some help because sometimes the tach can't keep up with the motor and that's when a shift light helps. i got mine from summit for like 40 bucks and i have it mounted behind the center air vents so you can't see it unless it's lit up.
