Well after one year with my 2KSE I'm still finding glaring examples of poor quality materials in the car.

We all know about the paint. I first suspected the glass was "soft" when the tinters made some deep cuts in my rear window while cutting the rear tint film. They were shocked to see this and assured me it happens to maybe one in 100 cars. So I had them get a glass polisher and he worked his butt off for 2 hours and got about 70% of the cuts removed.

Now, besided the many tiny chips (we sand our roads in Seattle in the winter)in my front windshield, I have scratches in my field of vision (of course). At first I thought it was the few occasions a dry wiper blade made one pass over the window.
But today driving in with the low sun I saw more scratches and they were random, not following the arc of the wiper, so I know that didn't cause them. The only thing I can think caused them were my new sheepskin wash mit (which I launder after every use)must have had some microscopic grit in it and I scratched the window washing the car. Unbelievable, since I don't use any pressure any where on the car due to the fine quality paint.

So, it's back to the glass polisher and another $100 at least. My friends wonder why I keep the car, but since it is paid for, I'm too stuborn to sell it. This may change soon!

It's pretty sad to get quality in a car you have to spend $40k+ to get the materials you expect in a $29k car.
Or has Nissan just become like Datsun was 30 years ago??

thanks for letting me vent. Anyone else notice the cheap glass.

I hear you! My glass looks like the moon's surface. So does our hoods!

Now that you mentioned it, I happened to catch the sight of a pebble that hit my windshield while driving. It left a mark but I was praying that it wasn't permanent---but it was. I noticed too that other parts of my windshield had 'pits', holes left by flying rocks.

Our windshields are worse than Honda windshields! (my wife drives a CR-V)

I'm thinking that when I replace it in a year or two, I'm going to have a long talk with the window folks about an after market windshield. Hopefully it will be better and it couldn't be worse!
Got to lower my deductable from $500 to $200, then do the replacement.
