Hello everyone. I am the proud new owner of a 2001 Nissan Maxima GXE. I've read a bit of the boards here and hope that I'll be welcome, you guys seem like you're a pretty nice bunch. I traded in my 94 Grand Prix for my new Max and boy, what a difference! Well, I'm off to wash, polish, and wax her and then maybe I'll get some pictures up for you guys.

BTW, I used to be at clubgp.com with my Grand Prix in case any one knew me from over there.

PS. One last thing, I've seen a million 0-60 and 1/4 times for the manuals, but what can i expect from a 2001 GXE auto? Thanks again.

Congrats on your ride and Welcome to the site! With all respect to AdamK I thought auto times for your vehicle were more in the high 7's to low 8 second 0 to 60 times.

Thank you everyone! And please, no Grand Prix bashing, that was the first car I ever owned and she'll always have a place in my heart. But the new Max (still nameless, don't know enough of her personality yet), is awesome. I love it. I've driven her all day. And I just finished washign and polishing her. Its supposed to storm tonight so I'm gonna wax tomorrow and leave her safe in the garage. Maximas are phenomenal cars though....so fast! And I saw a mag that had the 5spd at 6.7-6.8 and the auto at 7.4-7.6 0-60. I've noticed the 5spd are doing around 15-15.4 in the 1/4, can i expect my auto to go around 15.8-16.2? Thank you for welcoming me (if not as voraciously as Miss Maxima - I understand, I'm a guy too) and I hope this will be a fun ride! And mods will be coming...

Welcome

and congrats on your new purchase. I believe you are correct about the 0-60 times of the auto being mid 7's, however, that could be improved upon with a few quick mods. Look around, check out th FAQU's and other stickys in the 5th gen forum. Lots of useful info there, and happy posting....

Well, I washed and polished her up today (waxing tomorrow) and I've driven ehr everywhere I can. Man, she's a blast. I haven't spun her over 4k rpm yet but she's still awesome. And she can handle the twisties suprisingly well too, though there is some back end roll out of a hrad corner with no throttle. I love this car. I'm addicted.

BTW, i've got the 6 speaker, 120W system, what size are the four main speakers so I can swap them out? are all four of them 5 1/4? Thanks again.

I think that they are 6 1/2s. Try the car audio forums on this site or try crutchfield.com.
