Autoweek June 25 page 15 (Car Board) describes the Maxima "at least it has a nice personality". Best engine on the planet, but an unatractive exterior.
Ding dong, they're wrong.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, martinf. But the Maxima engine is another matter altogether. :vampire:

I have always liked the Max, and I finally got one last week. I don't even miss the power difference from my 00' mustang gt! I think the exterior is very nice as well as the interior.

i must agree with the author of that article. the maxima's exterior is more of an aquired taste. you can only grow to love it more, but growing tired of it would be difficult.. alot of my friends complained baout how ugly my car was (especially the rear) now they think it looks real nice. they say that the looks of the car really "grows" on people.. when i first saw the max i loved it.. and that's why i drive the max and not them.

I think the best Max for SE is always majestic blue, white, and the dark grey. Black is okay. The rest doesn't look as good.

Basically, people either love it or hate it. It doesn't have a wide audience that just "likes" it. Most people love it and based on the number of looks and stares I get in my car, I will attest that most people love it.!

I had a '96 Contour before I bought my Max.

Talkin' 'bout a fugly car. But hey, I don't have to look at it from the inside...

(OTOH, I have noticed that shabbily maintained 5th gens around here look pretty... shabby. Makes me more **** 'bout keeping the car clean. I'll probaby cry this winter. )

hey...the maxima was ALSO voted the 4th best Asian car in America by the subscribers of Autoweek in this weeks issue. so at least the majority of people know better lol.

about hte rear end i have to agree with mingo, the look grows on people. my friends used to say it had an "ugly ***". but now they say they really like the edginess and how its stands out from other cars on the street. the girls at my school have liked it from the beginning tho
