Headers + high flow cat + B-pipe + stock muffler

Any one runing a setup similar to this one??

I was thinking of running some headers with a highflow cat and a resonated B-pipe, but run the stock rear section(stock muffler)

Will the car just sound like crap ?

I want it a bit louder than stock, but don't want the noise of a aftermarket muffler.

What do you guys think?

Why a high flow cat?

They will not give any gains.

Currently I have that same set-up(H/B/Stock rear) and it sounds beautiful. Cannot tell in the least bit. has a very nice tone. Like a Z33 but demangnified significantly.

And yes, steven88 had the exact same set-up, but instead of a cat, he had a test pipe, hence the raspiness. The car soudns much better when under load rather than free revving.

Well I was thinking high flow cat just cause the one in there has almost 100k on it, might as well replace it while changing the exhaust.

For a b-pipe, i found one on lssexhaust for pritty cheap. Its Budget but the name changed now, looks like a good product.

I remember haveing their b-pipe on my 4t gen, it came with a magnaflow resonator.

Anyone got it

Nmexmax, how does you car sounds incabin when crusing at about 70mph?

I hate you.

Maybe I'll be able to buy something new when I sell both my VAFC-IIs. Yes, both.

I have a similar set up. H/Test/B with 2k2 stock muffler. Sounds very mellow but exotic at the same time. Like NmexMAX said, sounds like an undertoned Z33, maybe more aggressive?

That is the exact setup I am running. Not loud at all, MUCH quiter than with the Cattman muffler.

Right now my car has: HotShot Headers, Custom Maxima HF Cat, Cattman B-Pipe and a stock muffler.

I am running Hotshot headers, gutted cat, Warpspeed B-pipe and stock muffler. The car was too loud with my HKS muffler on. I think the stock muffler is the best option whenever headers are involved. It sounds stock when I'm not accelerating. It's good to be able to talk to the people in the car without raising your voice. Start-up sounds wonderful. Strong but subtle. During WOT, the car sounds very aggressive.

it took me six tries before i got the sound that i liked....
its a light grumble when you drive regular, but it sounds aggressive when you floor it.....

1) stock headers, stillen y-pipe, stock cat, greddy cat back (too quiet)
2) stock headers, stillen y-pipe, custom maxima test pipe (3"), greddy cat back (loud)
3) ssautochrome headers, stillen y-pipe, custom maxima test pipe (3"), greddy cat back (REALLY LOUD)
4) ssautochrome headers, stillen y-pipe, warpspeed test pipe (2"), greddy cat back (louder than loud)
5) ssautochrome headers, stillen y-pipe, warpspeed test pipe (2"), greddy b-pipe, magnaflow muffler (loud but really really raspy [sounded like a civic was rolling by....])
6) sschrome headers, stillen y-pipe, magnaflow high flow cat, greddy b-pipe, and cattman muffler (very happy with this one!! and NO RASPYNESS)

Jeminunguy, you didn't use the y-pipe that SSAutochrome supplied you?

I think you would really like the results of Cattman or HotShot headers... The long tube equal length primary tubes make a big difference in sound. Nice smoooooth aggressive tone. Not to mention more power...

Right now I am running HS Headers, stock cat, Frankencar B-pipe, and the stock rear section. It has a little bit of rasp accelerating at around 2.2-2.6k for some reason, but overall it is not much louder than stock. If I could find a FC muffler I would probably try that. BTW...I am a six speed.

I doubt it'd make a difference in terms of power gains. But the fact that the Stillen and eBay y-pipes are interchangeable does say something about the design of the eBay headers.

yeah i got the stillen y-pipe for a cheap price and it seems like it flows better than the sschrome y-pipe.... and it sounds less raspier with the sschrome header+y-pipe setup....

and i am thinking about going hotshot headers... i heard good reviews and not that much of a difference from the cattman headers and $200-300 cheaper.....

I ran a similiar setup...just like vq35 said, Header, test pipe. bpipe, stock rear....with this setup...it sounds almost stock...the only times it DIDN'T was revving in neutral...and accelerating hard....cruising at 70mph sounded stock with a slightly higher dB rating...

then I sold my bpipe and put my stocker back on...so now H/Test Pipe only...this setup is similiar to the above...except quieter....neutral revving tone stayed the same....which is caused by the raspyness of test pipe

then I sold my test pipe and put my stock cat back on....and let me tell you...headers by itself (even stock airbox) still amazes me....at this point, the car sounds VERY stock....even during WOT, I hardly notice any excess sound...revving in neutral also sounds nice
