P1126 error troubleshooting

Got a 2000 Max and been slowly fixing the CEL codes (have had a few so far) It has high miles (160k) and so far I have replaced the MAF and the front coils and it is running pretty smooth now (It was knocking like crazy at cold start-up). Now though I got this when I had it checked at Auto Zone:

P1126 "Throttle position (narrow range) sensor circuit malfunction"

I am wondering if I should replace the thermostat, front coils or the TPS?

Thanks,

Why would you change the thermostat or coils when the problem is clearly the TPS?

P1126 is a thermostat function code. Set when the ECM does not see a correct rise in coolant temp. after start up. Could be a stuck open thermostat OR a coolant temp. sensor or circuit issue. After starting the engine does the coolant temp. gauge needle slowly go up to about half way on the gauge and have you got lots of heat from the heater? If that is normal, then it could be the coolant temp. sensor or circuit (the one for the ECM) and which is critical for the system operation.

The temp gauge goes almost to halfway, but never more than that. I will start it cold and see how hot the heater gets, then go from there.

P1126 is the thermostat. I just got the code a little while ago, and replaced it myself, problem solved. You should notice that your temp guage will creep up very slowly to its normal range, this is because the thermostat is constantly trying to cool the motor down (stuck open) The throttle pos. sensor... is for 02 03. Hope that helps

OK replaced the thermostat and reset the CEL. Drove almost 100 miles now and so far so good. Think I need to just replace the rear coils and I will be set.

Thanks for the advice!
