No problems with my 5spd. Make your lives easier and use some redline MT-90.. Trust me U can tell a difference. sure it costs $9 a bottle but Hey, $40 for Oil and $25K for the car. U do the math. and for those of U who Use cheap Gas on your cars, Using Regular vs Super. Do the math, In a Year Using Regular Gas U would save about $150. So tell me something, U buy a $25K car and be cheap and rob it off its power by using cheap gas just so U can save $150.

True enough, My 4DSC . . .

but it does have its annoying little idiosyncracies. Here are a few tests for you to run.

1) Let your engine warm up fully, then put the transmission in neutral, bring your RPM up to about 3,000, and then begin SLOWLY reducing RPM. See if you can smoothly reduce engine speed from 3,000 RPM to idle.

2) Drive your car in first gear at at 1,500 RPM. See if you can maintain a constant 1,500 RPM without the car either attempting to accelerate or decelerate.

3) Accelerate aggressively in any gear to around 2,500 rpm and then shift normally. Look at your tachometer and see if the engine drops RPM instantly between shifts, maintains RPM, or actually increases RPM.

Then report your results here.

driving lessons...

maybe i need to take a driving lesson on really lousy designed transmission shifting?!

I love the car. I love the acceleration with the 5spd. I hate the pressure plate/clutch and the fact it can't be adjusted and the truck like shift gates. Otherwise, the car is great...
