Heated Seat stopped working? Heres why...

my heated seats stopped working at the end of last winter
i just recently took apart my seat to find this

the seats use some really thin 30 gauge wire and part of it burned out, breaking the circuit

seems fixable

however i cant remove the entire heating pad as its permanently attached to the cushion

my max is no longer under warranty and i dont consider it worth my time to go to the dealer to fix it when i can do it myself

i hardly see how threatening the nissan dealer will help as i did not buy the car from them

Crap. My extended warranty just ended and my drivers side heater is weaker than the passenger. Mine is an A33 VQ30DE 2001 Max. I wonder if I have the same problem.

accessing them doesnt take that long if you know which bolts/screws to remove and in what order

it took me pretty long the first time taking it apart

the plastic trim holding the cloth in place were a pain in the @$$ as well

i replaced my seats with leather ones from a 2k3 max so i will not be putting these back in to use/test them

however i cant see any reason why a simple re-wiring will not fix the problem

I see, then could this be the problem as to why the "butt" of my seat doesn't warm up but the back does?

Hmm... the back is supposed to warm? Neither the driver or passenger side in my car ever has... I thought it was strictly butt warmers...

well this is interesting, my butt warmer does not work on my driver seat, and i think the back warmer does not work on the passenger seat. what are you doing to try to fix it, just replace the wire?

I knew there was a reason for getting the base model Maxima SE. No heated seats, no climate control, no autoshifter, no Bose, no power seats.

Same problem as most people. No butt warmer on the driver seat however the back is ok. Anyone changed it yet? My brother in law is a Nissan mechanic so I will ask him how they fix it but who knows when he'll get back to me.

Hey any word back from your brother-in-law on how we can fix this? I have the same problem!

I put my own in. I have a base SE with cloth seats. No electrical anywhere. Drafted power from the back seat cigarette lighter. Heater pads cost me $75 bucks.
