Clutch squeak and interior lights issue

Two questions:

1. My clutch pedal squeaks during engagement. Not a sound of a throw-out bearing or anything (im pretty sure) Kind of just lack of lubrication near the pedal. Anyone have this before? I have lithium grease and stuff like that, but just wanted to ask where it could be coming from and make sure I don't affect anything.

2. My dome light and glove box light flicker on once in a blue moon. I've replaced the bulbs, no change. Map lights are fine, but dome light specifically cannot light up. Where should I check for wiring possibilities?

Sorry for the noobish questions, searched on board tracker, didn't find anything.

Thanks.

No ideas on the lights.
Sounds like bad contact on the trigger side....or short in the line.

I had the dealer replace my clutch pedal assembly, and it took all of 5 miles down the road for it to start squeaking again.

I've heard alot of peeps and dealers simply squirting the offending area with some kind of lubricant....any "glen" will do.

Don't worry about it - it's not going to break....just annoy you.

I have a rattle in my glovebox that's been there since day one off the lot -- I KNOW what and where it is, but not how to fix it. Turning-up the radio usually does the trick!

You could try re-seating the fuse for the lights... No guarantees, but sometimes the blades on the fuses get a layer of oxidation.

Otherwise, flickering lights sounds like a bad ground to me.. Happy hunting.

the clutch squeaks that I have run into were usually on the spring above the pedal

try squirting the grease on that spring. just don't go squirting a ton of it and try to just hit the spring and see if that takes care of it

Mine squeeks as well. Not sure what it is... Definitely sounds like a spring, I'm not worried but it's annoying!

my clutch didn't squeak, until just recently, the last few months or so. maybe a lubrication issue as other org'ers have suggested.

my clutch has been squicking as well. What you do is look at you tranny from top(easier with an after market intake) for a the the rubber piece with the rod that moves when you press the clutch. Then take off that rubber piece and oil all the joints. Should go away.

Thanks guys, will try greasing the spring and the rubber piece to see if I can get rid of this squeaking. It isn't necessarily annoying if I have my music up, but when you have to drive in quiet, it is very annoying. Will report back results.

Any luck with a fix zero2sixtyZ? mine squeaks also, only happened once in a while at first but has become more frequent lately. When I had the car in to the dealer for a different issue i had them look at squeak also and was basically told that "it's common and the only way to get lubricant to the problem area is to pull the tranny"

Sorry, update: I sprayed some Lithium Grease on the spring area above the pedal, squeak much better / next to gone.

Dome light: Got nothing yet.

Map lights: Converted to LEDs

Glove box light: I was retarded and didn't realize it only comes on when exterior lights are on.

My clutch has been squeaking too. I sprayed some silicone on the spring, but that didn't seem to do much. Since I don't have any lithium grease, I haven't tried that yet. My car had over 72k miles on it without any maintenance besides oil services. So I decided to change my manual transmission fluid and put in some Redline MT90. The transmission fluid was really black so the fluid change was necessary, but the squeaky clutch seems to have gotten better. I'm not sure why the manual transmission fluid change would help the clutch, so I might just be imagining things. Anyways, I'm going to have to try the lithium grease on the spring or find the rubber thing under the hood and get it lubricated.

In addition to squeaking a little, my clutch clicks once right as I begin to engage it and again when I release it. It happens about 1/2" from the resting position. It's funny, I obviously have noticed it when I drive but it never bothered me enough to pull over and look at the clutch mechanism to see what it is...probably some kind of sensor for the cruise control or something.

Anyone else have this?

Okay, I'm working with Z on this to figure out his dome light.

It cannot be a fuse. If it was, his vanity mirrors, map, step and keyhole lights would not work. They all work fine.

Now once we both get some free time, I'll take my trusty multimeter and test some connections...

But other than a loose connection or a faulty switch, there is nothing else it could be.
