I just installed my new clear/chrome tail lights and I noticed that everything hooked up correctly but the turn signal.

The wire harness and bulb will not insert into the slot. At first I thought mabie the bulb was to wide but then I just took the bulb out and the fitment will not go into the assembly.

Do I need to get another wire harness or is there a work around for this?

 

Check to see if the auto parts store has the same type bulb in a smaller size. If not then you can cut / dremel out the whole a little and 3m it in. I know that is mad ghetto but it will be covered up so no worries.

 

I went to the auto part store and picked up a smaller bulb. The only problem was that the harness socket wouldn't fit into the tail light assembly

 

Stick 3M double sided tape on the Harness face surrounding the bulb. Push it in place inserting the bulb. It will set the bulb in far enough to give you the light you need so there shouldn't be a problem.

That's a cheap fix. If you want to buy the harness then that's an option. Just tryin to save you the money considering that it will be hid anyway.

 

i know that the 00-01 and the 02-03 have dif harnesses could it be possible that the tail light u have needs the other harness?

 

you will need a harness from a 02/03 because according to your profile you have a 01 which has a different from the 02/03's

 

does anyone know a link of where I can get a 02/03 wire harness for the tail light?

The plug into the light assembly is the same though right?

 

Yeah, give Dave B. a call...1-888-254-6060. Since you have a '01, the harnesses are different for the '02-'03's. You must convert over to the '02-'03's in order for it to work. Also, you must change out the turn signal bulb also. The bulb bases from the '00-'01 are slightly different in shape.

 

i got my harnesses from dave b for about $45

 

you need to get the 2002-2003 tail light wire harness........the chrome tails are BUILT TO FIT the 2002- 2003 maximas. But will fit the 2000-2001 maxima as well, BUT YOU HAVE TO GET THE WIRE ADAPTER...i see we are in the same area. I went to Norris Nissan west in ellicot city, i paid like 30 bucks for them. I can get you the part number

 

yea for the new harness, he wants to use a 7443 bulb for the brake/tail light, a 7440 for the turn signal, and a standard 912 for the reverse
