Swapped out my windshield nozzles!

After reading a few other posts, I bought a couple Murano nozzles for my 2000. They were a bit pricey at $17 each.

So essentially it goes like this. Pop the dozen or so plastic holders for the hood insulator, then yank the two hoses from the old nozzles. With a needlenose plier, pinch the holding tabs and push them out.

The new nozzles have two little side nubs that need to be ground flush with a Dremel cutoff wheel. Then they just snap back in place. They don't come with any rubber gasket like the old ones, but hopefully it won't be an issue. I'll keep an eye on them for underhood leakage.

Now the spray covers the entire windshield, similar to my Cherokee. Very nice.

They're all the same, but I would suggest getting the newest one (2006) because it seems the trend for pricing is that the price increases as the car gets older...that's at least what I've witnessed with other parts (valve cover and brake rotors/calipers)

Did you say you bought nozzles for a Nissan Murano instead of the Maxima? Are the Murano ones better?

Thanks.

The Murano nozzles provide a "fan" spray pattern verses the single stream pattern from the Maxima nozzles. They are a bit different in size, so there will be a small area exposed on the hood which was covered prior by the originals.

If you order the nozzles for an A34 maxima, they work fine and only list out at 4.18 ea. I've got em on mine and they work great. Awesome for melting frost on the windshield

Thanks I don't have them anymore, 00MaxSE does.

Back on topic -

I believe the 6th gen nozzles also provide a "fan" spray pattern as do the Murano versions.

Yes I should've clarified a bit. They do also have a fan spray. I've noticed that when stopped, the majority of the spray hits the very upper part of the windshield, but when moving at any speed it hits right where you need it. I also had to trim the nozzles a bit to fit them in. I used a utility knife, and just tried not to slice my hands open. I trimmed the little tabs that lock them in place also, but trimmed too much so I'm going to get another set and try to do a little better this time. Anyways, it's a great mod for little $$$ always good.

Yea, I hate how the stock sprayers only cover a limited area. I will look into replacing them with the A34 sprayers too. Were they just purchased at any Nissan dealership?

Yea... I trimmed to much as well. I've got one good one, and one butchered one in my change cup, because I am a quitter and gave up

You think these will fit on a 3rd Gen as well?

Did this mod last month. I like the fan spray - I think these nozzles also release a lot more fluid at once. I don't particularly like where it sprays though - seems rather high. I find myself having to pump the switch so it doesn't squirt out at full force. I'm not sure if I shaved off enough plastic either, I noticed that the nozzle isn't flush with the hood.

In any event, they are a nice change I think. Kinda pricey from my dealership. Has anyone tried painting them with a touchup stick or something, to match the colour of the car? The Murano nozzles are very porous and would pait fairly easily, I'd imagine..

ok, so it seems the murano and 6th gen nozzles are about the same.
one last question, with your 6th gen nozzles, did it come with a rubber grommet like the stock ones.

and this is a general question. some of you have complained how the murano ones did not come with rubber grommets, but could we remove the rubber off the OEM nozzles and put them on the new ones?
