Control arm question

I just removed the control arm on my 2001, and need to transfer the "bush link pin" from the old one to the new one. Is this a press fit or is it just stuck? It did not appear to be an interference fit, and the FSM makes no mention of needing a press but i cant seem to get the link pin out. Is there any trick to this?

bush link pin? you mean cotterpin? try to pry it off with side cutters and if you damage it too much punch it with a punch through the whole...
You don't need a press That's the ball joint one.
To get the balljoint out you hamer the actual round housing that the balljoint pin sits in couple of times.

no, he doesn't mean cotter pin

the bush link pin just give it a good whack with a mallet and it will pop out. I've done it a couple of times. It kind of gets seized up tothe inner collar of the bushing sometimes.

no. Not the cotter pin. On the control arm there are two units that connect to the chassis. One is a circular bushing with a 2 bolt housing. The other is a "link pin" which is a 4 bolt piece that fits into the LCA and is then secured to the control arm with a nut. this is the part i need to know about the fit on.

Irish,

I tried wacking it out with a rubber mallet and a standard hammer (not a good idea, so i stopped). I have it soaking in some kroil right now to loosen it up a bit. Is there any other trick to it? Is there another way to break the inner collar loose?
