Hight Mount 3rd Brakelight Question

I added a spoiler to my '02 GLE and I want to remove the high mount 3rd brake light on inside rear decklid. The problem is when I remove the bulb I get an idiot light on the dash that lights up everytime I press the brake pedal because the car thinks I have a bad light bulb. That is a useful feature so I don't want to remove the bulb in the gauge cluster.

So I was wondering if I cut the red and black wires that go to the third brake light and then wire them together will that stop the bad light bulb warning light in the guage cluster everytime I press the brake pedal?

try adding a resistor to the circuit

if it senses a load from the leds on the spoiler, it might fix the problem.

I would suggest you measure how much of a load the LED's take from the 3rd light with a meter and match it with a resistor to put in their place.

Hope that helps a bit.

But it's setting off the dash light because it senses that the bulb is missing or burnt out on the decklid high mount. Maybe I'm misunderstanding whay you're saying.
