Advice on new muffler

I just had the b-pipe flange break AGAIN after having it welded in summer of 05, cheap way out i knew it would break again, my question is what mufflers can i get fairly cheap that will sound better than stock but not obnoxiously loud? I know stillen cattman HKS are like 300-350/piece, what about ractive, frankencar, etc? How about big car mufflers like flowmaster, borla, magnaflow, worth a shot or no? i dont know too much about it as you can tell any advice would be appreciated thanks

Borla

I have a borla universal muffler and i think it sounds better than any of the stillen/frankencar/cattman mufflers. However, it is the only exhaust component i have replaced and im afraid it will be extreemly loud with any further mods (headers/Y Etc). As it is though, it is nice and modest sound, with a great low rumble. And when i say low, i mean really low. also i see you have a 2001 so you have the vq30de whereas i have the vq35de. this probably makes some difference in sound as well. Mine sound a lot like this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Wi5DYhpai8 but looks much different. mine is dual tip.
Hope this helps.

try magnaflow.com they have some clips there, not maxima tho.
my model is universal street series part# 14816, sounds not too loud not to quiet, just what "im looking for" and it looks good too, specially when its shinny...not like one of those loud a-s-s mufflers that set of alarms all over the place

good luck

Ya, I am looking at the 14815 model with 3" tips. I have yet to find a Magnaflow exhaust clip on a Maxima. I want to make sure it has a growl to it, and no backfire popping noises.

Ok I got a magnaflow delta 50 series 2.5" and the cattman stainless midpipe, i dunno how loud that muffler is gonna be, but i guess the pipe should quiet it down a bit since right now im running w/ no resonator, well its actually broke now so its REAL loud lol

louder than stock. like say i had the muffler I got, the flowmaster, w/ stock piping versus the cattman mid- the catt. would probly be a little deeper tone right due to larger diameter? or not cause the resonator is huge?
