lip on wheel wells

I saw a 5th gen with rubber or plastic edges around the wheel wells - just covering the edge and sticking out maybe 1/16". I wonder if this would protect this edge a bit (prone to a little rust on my car), plus I liked the look.

Grandma was driving, so I assume this was a dealer-offered option? Does anyone know where to get these and what they are called?

Thanks.

A lip won't protect you anymore from rust. IMO, I would say that would look pretty ricey.

The rust would just be underneath any covering. I have some rust right now. Nissan denied the claim because they didn't consider it "perforation" of the surface.

They were on my car when I got it. They were installed by the dealer that my dealer got it from. I'm not sure what they do, but they are hardly noticible. They're there, right at the edge of the wheel well, front and rear.

I don't have rust in this area...or maybe I haven't noticed it yet.

A lot of older Hondas have that plastic fenderwell lip section on their rear quarter panels. Water gets trapped in between the plastic and metal, which adds to Honda's notorious rust problems (especially 92-95 Civic hatchbacks).
