Brake light and battery light On

Hi all,
Looking for possible cause to Why the brake light and battery light came on and then after a few mile went away. It was cold this morning but not that cold. Could it be the alternator or maybe Battary is dying? Anyone with simialer problem?

Thanks

The alternator is probably dying. You may want to check the fuses first, though, because changing the alt is a major deal. Both Irish and I have done write-ups on how to change it.
