I think so... I seen ppl before offering to fax you copies of certain procedures. I've also heard that its only useful if you do A LOT of work yourself (ie no dealer). However, $200 seems like a lot of $$$ to me...

well....

even tho I have a Nissan Gold warranty on both cars, I cant really trust the dealer anymore. Service is totally inconsistant. One day I'm told a 5 min procedure is a HUGE deal or cant be done, the next they are totally willing to tear the whole car down on a whim.

I even bought a scan tool for my cars. I got tired of losing time and money making multiple trips to the dealer. (hard starting issue and the cold weather hiccup). I'll capture my own codes to show them. it was only $70. Hell, I spend that in my own time each trip.

As for the $200 manual, I would like to at least know the procedure they are about to perform, or not perform.

Literally, I'm at the point were I'd rather try the simple stuff myself. I actually spent 7 hours in drive time and waiting trying to get a 5 min adjustment. (they even admitted it was a 5 min adjustment). That's 3 trips!!! the first 2 times, it wasnt adjustable.. The third time the right guy was there and knew to look it up in the FSM, 5 mins later I'm set. just sick of that.

I actually had a 97SE before, and anytime i went to a mechanic (even to change the oil) i always had a manual with me - so if he'd try (and he did) to tell me that i need to take half a car appart just to change a spark plug - i'd show him exactly what he had to do - step by step. it always helps to know what exactly needs to be done - and the manual is a very good resource to provide that information.

Courtesy has the CD for $250 .. still mighty steep in my opinion.

The only part I am looking for is the behavior of the valves in the intake. I guess they are supposed to close during idle and open during higher RPM.. but the local Nissan dealer has no idea either..

$200 is expensive but service manuals for new cars are always expensive. For the 3-gen the Nissan one was about $75.

BUT, AND I SAY BUTT! You can save $200 easy with one or two DIY repairs. Each consult hook-up is $75 at Nissan, regarless if you elect to get the repair done. A brake job here and one error code there and BAM!, $200 bones saved.

Plus it's a very good thing to have around. Look how Daniel B. Martin helps everyone with his. That guy has saved the 4-gen crowd thousands!

I was seriuosly considering buying one...but I wanted it in book form, because it would be a pain to print everytime I need something...But I think in CD form, it's good too because I can't get it dirty or have it destoyed...unles I scratch it up and no backup.

And if I would to get one, would someone willing to "donate" some money if I were to provide some help their way??

E-Mail me...

hard copy is good

I like to have a book at the car when I do work. I would'nt like to be fiddling around with a laptop and greasy hands. (It would also be illegal to make copies of the copywrited material so I wouldnt go posting that in a public forum.)
