Even though my engine falls flat on its face after 6k or so I would still rather shift at 7200rpm with the A4 because the crappy gears are spaced so far apart when it shifts up I am way out of my powerband... I seriously feel the 5sp tranny on my moms G35 is the only reason its faster in a striaght line than my I35.

Because of the A4 the car has absolutly no nutz if you punch it at 40 and 70mph

I ran my car stock with a k+n panel filter...consistant 14.5 at 97.2-4mph. I did the GAB and it now runs 14.3 at 98.7 with almost identical track conditions. Well worth the cost of a coat hanger I think lol

I assume you're referring to the "gutter" OSCAI? Or the PAB with scoop? Or the PVCCAI? there are several variants. You think I've been here this long and missed them? Hell, I've tried most of the intake setups out there (including the OSCAI).

I like my current on the best for power: Place racing "downpipe" with OEM "midpipe". Gains through the entire range and no low-end loss like most intakes.

Hey Irish, what could I expect if I went with the place racing downpipe on my 2002 SE auto?

Buy a spare airbox from yard and cut the top off, drill holes, etc....

what do you mean "what could you expect?"

expect to cut a hole in the inner fender, for one
expect to have a hard-as-hell time actually finding a PR intake since they haven't been made in a couple of years.

I did this mod a month or two ago and I really definitely like the sound of it. I love going half throttle and hearing it. A great free mod

I kind of figured that I was out of luck when I could not find Place Racing's website.

I was looking for an easy answer to upgrading the intake for the VQ35 without losing low-end power. When I get to work I'll scour the forums to find it because I know it's been to death on here.

Volumetric Efficiency my friends.

Your engine is now taking in more air than originally designed for, so now it needs to expel the same amount of air to operate efficiently.

I found this out when I first got my MAX..Im late into the MAX scene, and thats all I find - is how the PR is the only TRUE CAI. I remember seeing one in the classifieds and it was gone/sold within mins of the post..

WOW good to see the GAB mod with the coat hanger is still being used. The big secret about the coat hanger is to find an extremely thick one. Not usually one you buy at wal-mart. But ones u get at professional stores that are really thick and cant bend worth a darn.

Hey Guys. Does anyone know if all of the 5th gen Max's use the same stock intake? Would that apply to the infinities as well? Reason I ask is that I designed a version of the GAB thats not quite so "Ghetto." I designed it around the air box on my 01 Max. Just wondering if it would fit any other applications other than my year?

It's made of 1/8" galvanized basic wire (stronger than even a pretty diesel coat hanger and won't rust) and is welded for strength. Price is pry going to be around $25 shipped but could be as low as $20 depending on the demand. Anybody interested??

Pics...

Thanks Guys

They do make digital audio recorders you know, they do work alittle better than trying to catch sound in a bottle.
