I am live in New Jersey and going to tint windows.
Its illegal to tint front sides in this state but I see
a lot of cars tinted all over. Does any one have any
good/bad expirience with cops in NJ? Any advice?

You WILL get a ticket if you tint your front windows in NJ.
It WILL happen.
Even my 50-something year old mother gets them.
Cops HATE tinted windows...
Put yourself in their position...
Its dark out...your approaching a car with dark windows where you cant even see in the car...
How do you know theres not a .44 pointed right at your chest?

If you decide to tint them...
MAKE SURE you roll ALL your windows down *when* you get pulled over...

I have been in 2 car accidents(in Midtown NYC and South Hackensack), two times that the police couldve given me tickets for tinted windows. But it hasnt happened yet. I have had good luck so far. Knock on Fake Wood Trim.

I've been pulled over quite a few times

I've been pulled over quite a few times.. probably 15 or so times in the life of me always having tinted windows.. and I can honestly say... only one of those times has the office ever said anything about the tint.. and this was 6 years ago.. with limo tint.

Ever since then.. with either a 20, 25, or 30% tint.. nothing ever...
I always do make it a habit to roll down the fronts when I do get pulled over.. however, the cop certainly notices anything he needs to notice prior to approaching my car.

Honestly.. in NJ.. my own opinion.. because so many cars have tinted windows.. they ignore it, or forget about it. Its an inspection trigger at most at this point in time.

I think the point of rolling down the windows is so that the cop can see what you are doing and not be afraid that you have a gun or something, like 4DSC alluded to.

In my province (Alberta), it's illegal also. I see a lot of cars with differant shades of tint on their front and rear side windows and I don't like the look. I figured I'd keep everything the same so tomorrow I'm getting 50-tint all around. If you're caught doing something stupid they can throw on a ticket for the tint also, but I heard it's very rare to get ticketed for tint alone.

A guy at my workplace was stopped in his Celica and the RCMP officer (they are typically stricter than the city police) gave him an exacto-knife and told him to start scraping the tint off. He had been told to do so before, had limo tint, and lipped off the officer, so I'm hoping his was just an extreme case.

I just noticed that on AMOCO across the street they say
"Private Inspection Station authorized by NJ DMV".
The owner knows me since I change oil in there for 4 years now. Though my next inspection is in 2 years, I think
private stations like this could work..
