Does anyone have a picture or diagram of which o2 sensor is for bank 1, and also I need to replace the catalytic converter for my 01 max but not sure where bank 1 is??? Not sure which one since our cars have so many o2 sensors. Dealer said that my 02 sensor and converter need to be changed, but they want to charge me about 1400 bucks!!!!!!! I am going to buy a high flow cat and o2 sensor from somewhere else and do it myself. I have exteded warranty but it will only cover the o2 sensor, and not the catalytic converter and they will not do it unless i changed the cat. converter b/c they said it would just burn out my o2 sensor again.

thanks oc guy, i would have posted this in the thread that we had going before but it has been closed. One more question, do you know which o2 sensor I shoud change on bank 1, rear or front? in the diagram it looks like the rear o2 for bank 1(the white one) is plugged right into the cat. converter. and the front o2 (the black one) is right after the cat. converter.

 

rear bank 1 has the white wire with blue connector. front bank 1 has the black wire but i cant recall the connector's color. if you have never replaced 02 sensors in past and has put too many miles on them, then its better to change both bank 1 sensors. i replaced all 4 like 2 years ago even though i only had one that was giving the code. but if one goes bad there are chances that other will go bad after few thousands of miles. and the car only has four 02 sensors so thats around $400 for all four. i think its $94 each. and here is the great auto warehouse website where i bought mine 02's. you can call to make sure what type of o2 sensor you need or just (buy it) by searching them.

i searched for you but there is no "write up" or "how to" for catalytic converter. o2 sensors are easy to replace they are just plug and play. but to replace catalytic converter you should take your car to one of your local muffler shop. they will charge very less labor than dealers.
