Shiny Door Trim

What's up with the shiny door trim? The 4th gen. SEs have black trim around windows which I think looks cool. Why the shiny trim on the 5th gen.?
My car is black and this stupid trim really stands out (in an ugly way). Has anyone tried to paint it or tape it?

hey i was too, and its not even that noticable to be ugly at all unless yours is fading away or something...but whatever u feel comfy with...no offense to those that have the pinstripe but i'd rather have that chrome trim than that stripe

I can't believe I missed it! I read FAQs and How-Tos for fun during my lunch break at work, but somehow I managed to miss this one.

Thanks soonerfan and zero2sixtyZ!

No problem. I am still wondering if I should do this or not. I do like the contrast, but my car will be practically full black when I'm done. *sigh*

the trim is a nice touch

I dont think anyone should change it. If anything, match it to your wheel color

there is def a nice difference with the trim tape. i did this last summer on my bl/bl and i def had other max owners looking trying to see why it looks different then theres. at one point i was at a light side by side with the same max dropped and everything, he sat on the reg 00-01 stock wheels and i had the 02-03 gle wheels. he rolled down the window and litterally asked me what did i do to my car cause he couldnt figure it out. im redoing it this spring after a lil make over.
