Traded the 02-SE for an 04-SL

I wanted to thank all of you for the advice and help with my 2002 SE over the past few months. I am pretty new to the forum but the information here has been great. Some of you that read my recent post are aware of the tranny slip issue I had on my 02 that the dealer claimed was normal. I decided to just trade it before it got any worse and not have to fight with the dealer to cover it under my extneded warranty. I picked up a Navy Blue 2004 SL with, Sunroof, Bose and only 30k on the clock. I have been wanting the new body style for a while. I hope it is as reliable as my 02. Maybe I will see some of you in the 6th Gen forum!

Traitor!!!! Good luck with the new car. Sounds nice although I'm not a big fan of the 6th gen body style.

Oh boy, you are going to be in for a major disappointment since the 04 had a lot of issues with rattles, squeaks since it came out there were a lot of quality issues since it's built here in Tenn plant, since the 5 gen was built in Japan. Point in case that you probably gonna regret it since the 02 is much better than the 04. But it's your money and if that makes you happy.

$16,500 for the 04 and $8,000 for my 02. The 04 only has 30k on it and has every conceivable option less navigation. My 02 was a base SE with 85K on it. I was happy with the deal.

Congratulations. Keep in mind you posted in the 5th gen section. We own 5.5's not necessarily because we couldn't afford 6th gens.

Anyhow, I really hope you enjoy the car. I test drove an 04 prior to getting my 5.5 and you will enjoy it.

My ONLY advice is this: DO NOT put 20 inch rims on that car. I saw someone's Car Domain (2 Leet's?) and he had 20 inch rims on his car. It looked absolutely ridiculous! I mean really bad. Don't go bigger than 18 IMO.
Otherwise enjoy the car and don't mind other peoples criticism of it. As long as you like it is all that should matter.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my 02-SE. It was the best car I ever owned and I have had over 20 cars since I turned 16! I was just ready for something newer and I didn't want to spend a ton of money!

I have wanted a 6th generation for while now. I am partial to the newer body style. I loved my 5th generation but it was getting up there in miles (85k) and I wanted to trade it while it was still worth something. I am impulsive, what can I say? I had my 02 for 5 years. That is a record for me as far as length of time owning one car! So far, I am enjoying the 6th generation. It definetley rides better than the 5th. It is not as fast though, at least it feels that way. It has a much heavier feeling to me.

Nice looking car. The 6th gen is nice but imo the stock 18's are too small. Fill up the huge fenders with some 19's. You can do 20's but it really depends on the type of rim. I don't know why people criticize the 6th gen. Our 5th gens aren't bullet proof either though I do like the 5th gen's styling better.

Good luck with the 04 Max.

I have always like the 5.5 gen better than the newer body style, so I bought a used Max, rather than going with the new body style back in 04/05.

The 04-06 maximas do ride nice, primarily due to the new multi-link rear suspension, but they are heavy in comparison to the 5th gen and the power seems to be a little doggy since they are running the same 3.5L V6.

Still a nice car, no doubt, just not what most 5th gen owners want.
