Axle Problem 2000 Maxima

Those of you that have 5th gen Maxima and had to have passenger axle replaced. What were the symptoms? Trying to figure out if I need a new one or not.

mine sounded like popcorn when i drove on roads with very minor dips and ridges. it also clunked around on bigger bumps. it was a combination of the stabilizer bar endlinks and bushings along with the passenger axle. now its perfect

I have a bad cv joint and it clicks and makes a crunch sound (sounds like theres a midget under my hood breaking a bunch of pencils) when i turn the wheel more than 120 degrees.

Just go check and see if the rubber boot is ripped, that will def tell you that your axle needs to be replaced.

I have all those noises in mine. Had the axle replaced and most of it went away. I did need new wheel bearings too. And it was the passegner side as well.

As of now theres still some noise whe nI go over bumps, but Il bet is a bushing or something.

Everyone Have this problems when someone has a bad wheel alignment it usually is the problem can cause the bumps to hit your shock hard.
my uncle is a mechanic and he is very good probably the best in New York.

after going to other places fixing my car there was bad problems with my car not correctly installed shocks or some bolts haven't been tightened some plugs have not been connected i believe not everyone knows what they doing.

Regards,

Mike

Agreed, not every mechanic can work or be knowledgeable on every car.

axles are very important check to make sure your axles are not leaking check your seals from the transmission as well.

what is your struts/spring type are they damping controls on or are you on stock suspension try to see if your tires are balanced right or not bold there are allot of issues that can cause it to crack even by snow/salt.

Regards,

Mike

Maybe 1 month or so until everything will be confirmed from the company.
