Fascing a serious suspension dilemma.

I have finally, FINALLY, received the second half of my money from the attorney. I am gonna upgrade my suspension on my max. I have since sold the rims that you see in the profile picture, and have bought some chrome 06 factory 18" nissan rims. My the thing is, im not sure what struts i should get.. Im not looking to do a lowering type of deal here. Im looking for handling and comfort. I have been interested in the illuminas and the HP blues...I have read alllllll the suspension threads and have still come to no conclusion on this. Will i be just as good going with the HPs or should i spring for the illuminas>?

The stock struts on the car are completely blown, and if i go around a corner that has a bump in it, the car almost "jumps". So yea its definitely time for me to get some new struts. Im only interested in struts that will help the comfort and driveability of the car. Again, im not interested in lowering the vehicle.

thanks in advance peeps

if you are changing just the struts and arent lowering the car, i would just get the cheapest struts you can. the expensive ones are really only beneficial in combination with different springs

Why not go with OEM since you are not lowering? But if I were you I would go for the Illuminas if you didnt go OEM style..thats my .02 cents..

I would stick with an OEM strut if you are not going to drop the car.

Tokico blues or KYB GR-2 would be a improvement over stock and would should be less expensive, the top Gabrials are decent. I would stay away from Monroe Sensi-Tracs. The way their "comfort zone" is designed the shock is always traveling through it, so the dampening is not consistent when the shock is working hard(rough roads). Have fun!

Just reminding you that BCatts has KYB GR-2/Progress springs on sale for $489 on the latest group deal. I, myself haven't ridden on them, but they were just recommended from MerlotMax.

i would compare the prices of illumia's VS HP blues to begin with. and then take that picture VS the .org's FS forum, I dont know how the 5th gens prices but most 4th OEM strut/spring sets are like $100 + shipping used. So going used OEM might be a very cheap route. I expect the illumia's to be $500 but they are well worth it. Your problay the first to put them on stock springs tho.

i would say get the illuminas, you can adjust the settings so you can get good handling without sacrificing comfort. u can get illuminas on group deal for $423 shipped.

If you don't want lowering but you want the handling:

Tein H-Tech coupled with Tokico Illuminas.

yeah, if you like a boat ride and awful handling, H-techs are the ticket.

besides, the H-techs are a nice looking drop, lower than many other springs...they just suck for everything else.

looks like you have s-techs from your sig pics.

go with Eibachs...they are the best, with H&R a close second.

I was looking for the same thing. I brought HP and I am very happy with them. Now that I am florida i'll probably go ahead and put the votland springs I brought last year on. The roads down here are so smooth. When I was living in Boston, there was no way in hell I'd put on lowering springs....
