Ah... The infamus tranny problems...

ya well my tranny screwed up on me today and went to poop... welll not really... i have no reverse or first gear... anyways now my plan to do the tranny swap around mid spring has changed to NOW... i need to know couple of info's so if u gentlemen care to help out, that would be great... im IN the market of getting a manual tranny... either a.e. tranny or non locking tranny... which one...???? and are the driving axles the same for both trannys with ABS

other question is would u rather buy a used tranny with say 55k miles or a remanufactured tranny with 12 months unlimited miles warranty...

any help or info is great... luckily my mother doesn't need her car for the rest of the week so i atleast of some sort of transportation... lmk please i really need some info ASAP

ahh i have been waiting for my transmission to go to **** for about 6 months now. it is slipping really bad from first to second and reverse sucks sometimes too. so i have been researching for the past few months on what im going to do when mine blows. i have 55k now. i planned on getting a transmission with 30k or under from a junkyard and swapping it in. i found a few for around $600 shipped to the shop i work at. i finally called around about getting mine rebuilt by a shop and found a shop that would pull the tranny, rebuild it, and put it back in with a 12 month warranty for $1100. so i have come to the conclusion that getting it rebuilt is the way to go. who knows if the junkyard transmission is in good shape and it also has no warranty. If i were you i would find a reputable shop to get it rebuilt at. Also if you are an auto there is a ton of work and a ton more cost to switch to a manual. I would definately do this if i had the time and a 6 speed parts car. hope i helped ya out.
