Has anyone tried this muffler?

I found this muffler that looks really nice, and the price is great, but has anyone tried it? Does it fit well? Sound good? I was most curious about the "straight through" design, how does that affect the performance?

Here's the muffler:

My set-up will make more power than that and I have the stock muffler on.

Too loud for my taste.

Looks like one of those eBay mufflers? It will probably be very loud, as the cheaper ones skimp on dampening material. And the whole DTM tips IMO don't belong on a Maxima.

buy it, its not gonna kill your budget

if you don't like it, you can use it as an ashtray or something ?

welding is probably going to cost more than the muffler though hehe

Just so you know, mufflers do not make power on a Maxima. If you want power, you have to pay for it... Headers make the most power (20whp), they are $600-$800. Making any power on a Maxima with exhaust is going to cost at least $300-350 and it is minimal.

I have the exact one on my Bimmer (3 series). Sounds good. Hardly hear it on the interstate.

Dunno about how it be on Maxima.

That looks like a VW/Audi type muffler that IMO, won't look good on a Max. Its all personal preference of course. If you want a cheaper alternative to Cattman or HKS, Magnaflows are the next best. And as already posted, if you're doing this for hp gains, forget it, mufflers don't do much for this car because the stock rear is pretty unrestrictive. A straight through just will make things loud.

i have a custom catback exhaust, with the cattman y-pipe, and originally had the magnaflow muffler with two tips. It sounded really good but the highway drone (80 mph = 3100 rpm) was so annoying over time that i got a stock muffler again, now it sounds really good with ypipe-catback-stocker.

basically dont buy it if you plan to cruise on the highway ever

I decided to try it... as dood above said.. not a budget killer. When it was put on and the car started I was like woo f'ing hoo... sounded nice. But then... started driving and it was really loud inside the car, outside was ok. I was like sheet... gotta get another one soon... well some sheet happened consumed my funds for a while so I had to keep this on there.

Well after a few weeks the loudness started to fade out. And now... actually it sounds awesome. When I start the car, it sounds sweet. driving just gives me a bit more sound which is what I was after... not really performance... not from this muffler.

So overall, the sound is very nice... not loud at all... no drone... quite pleased.

However, I'm growing away from the look of it. It's just a bit big. Not extreme... but could be better. I bet a lip kit would solve the appearance problem, but that won't be for a while.
