having problems with my 2k1- stalllllling

hey guys,

i have a 2001 stock auto maxima and yesterday nite while i was driving back home my car stalled suddenly running at around 40km/h.
now everytime i try to start thecar the engine starts cuz i seethe rpm going up and coming down right away n it stalls unless i keep on revving the engine.
but everytime i stop revving it stalls. i have to keep on revving and put it on D to make it run, but as soon as i reduce the speed it stalls again. i have ses, slip n abs sign but they were on since last year when i broke my abs sensor on rear wheel, beside that there was no prob.

i hope any of you can tell me wat could it be

THANKS

yea i think i did, well after reading in the forums i figured its probably MAF, so i disconnected the sensor cable off and den i tried to start it and it worked but couldnt go over 2000 rpm. I put back the plug in and tried and it started doing the same thing again so i guess its my MAF sensor that is gone.

try the same test on ur car and let me know wat results u got.

Well...I had a mechanic check my car out and I suggested it to be the MAF sensor. He said there are two sensors and they both could be out. I told him to try cleaning the sensor and he said he did, but i dont know cuz i wasnt there. He says he wants to charge me $90 tow to his shop, and $400 for one sensor. I think that is just for the part cuz he said he will use his discount and take $100 off. Do you think its easy enough to replace yourself? Did you try cleaning your sensor w/ sensor cleaner? Let me know what works for you.

There is only one MAF sensor, and yes replacing it is really easy, if u have a 5th gen then it shouldn’t cost u anything more than 100$ to buy and replace it yourself. If u have a 5.5 gen it will cost u about 400. However there are other ways and the guys in .org in here found another way to replace it with a 5th gen one. Remember always do a search before u post, there is a lot of good information and walkthroughs about this topic.

this "mechanic" really doesnt know what he`s talking about, there is only one MAF sensor and if u order it online its around 100 dollars. the install is very easy to do so u can do it by urself and save urself some money. Nissan should really do a freaking recall on their MAF
